The (RED) ONES

This past week I’ve spent a lot of time with major advocates of (RED). Not only did I spend days on campus speaking with some Media studies students really excited about the Vail Film Festival (read last post), but I also was able to partner with Habitat for Humanity to give out some new materials later this week. They decided to purchase some Starbucks (RED) cards for their annual auction to raise funds for their Spring Break trips! Very cool! On Thursday the 12th (the day of the auction), I’ll be giving out (RED) buttons and stickers to anyone who walks through the door – they usually have over 500 participants! Should be great!dscn1010

Even more exciting was spending the weekend in Washington D.C. for the ONE Campaign’s Power 100 Summit. Here, more than 100 students and professional gathered for a weekend of advocacy and information in the nation’s capitol, focused on important issues such as HIV/AIDS in Africa. I spoke with countless students and staff about (RED) and how they can promote it on their campus – I even have some contacts that want me to send some buttons and postcards to them! I was able to collect a great number of emails, and was thrilled to see that (RED) items were represented in the “promotional” materials we got – including (RED) Wire post cards, buttons, and even (RED) Windows Vista wireless mouse! Very cool!

I’ve also been invited to write up a blog post on the ONE.org website talking about my interconnected work with ONE and (RED) – will keep you all updated on that as well!

Anyway, it’s been a busy week and it’s only going to get busier – hope to see you all at the Habitat Auction!
